Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’ “
Every day after school, I give Avery a snack time. She needs it. She’s been at school for 7 hours straight. I know my child and I know that if she doesn’t have any downtime, she will melt as fast as ice-cream in south Georgia on an August afternoon. Avery needs time to recharge and not think, not do, not strive, and not accomplish. So, when she’s in my care, I lift her burdens for the moment and make her day lighter.
Our Heavenly Father does a much better job at this than I do. When we come to him in our weariness, he promises to provide the rest we desire. He helps carry our burdens and doesn’t pressure us to impress. He doesn’t push us to perform. And he doesn’t stress us to strive for perfection.
What is God telling you to bring to Him? Just leave it at his feet. Accept his offering of rest in him. And recharge.
