Day 14: Flowers On The Doorstep

On the way home from picking up Avery from school today, I answered a phone call from an unfamiliar number. It was the florist telling me that he left a bouquet of flowers on the doorstep.  Whaaaaatttt?!?! That little sly sneaky husband:)

Attached was a note from him addressed to ALL the ladies in the house, telling us that he missed his girls.  This will be the longest he’s ever been away from us while hunting in Mississippi with my dad.  As much as I miss him, I know his affectionate heart misses us even more.  I’m so thankful for a husband who enjoys being home with his wife and children.  Even though he thinks buying flowers is a waste of money and doesn’t do it very often, I LOVE that he shows his appreciation for us in ways WE can interpret it.

That’s something that the both of us have had to learn and put into practice over the course of our 10 year marriage.  LOVE LANGUAGES…and speaking to each other in the language we understand instead of what is comfortable for us.  I highly suggest reading Gary Chapman’s book The Five Love Languages to learn what it means and what it can do for your marriage.

Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
