Be honest…do you still have your tree up? What about Christmas lights in your bushes? You’re in good company, I’m sure. We have all of our decorations taken down, but there’s a bit of emptiness in our house. Where there used to be twinkling lights, sparkly ornaments, and happy Santa Clauses dressed as various characters like the mailman or a surfer dude, there is instead….nothing. No glitz, no gleam, no cinnamon scented candles. Boo:( It’s like a Christmas hangover, just the blah after a good time. I base this comparison on what I’ve heard about good times and hangovers from those ‘other people’ 😉
The cool thing is, Christmas is about the LIGHT of the world coming. The baby born in a manger is the everlasting LIGHT. So, no matter how you feel after taking down your christmas tree lights, there is STILL a light that continues to twinkle in the darkness. Don’t miss it with your new year resolutions and goals for 2016. You don’t have to replace that void of Christmas joy with the busy-ness of doing, going, seeing, and accomplishing. Jesus didn’t come to be a light for the moment, but for every moment. When things are good, when things are bad, when things are hard, and when things are confusing. He isn’t seasonal. He is unconditional. Stop searching outside for the everlasting light. He’s right there, waiting to illuminate your path. No matter what…his LIGHT never goes out.
John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
